The Weaving Journey

01

Stage One

Yarn Spinning & Dyeing

The journey begins with the finest New Zealand wool and natural silk. The raw fibers are hand-spun to retain their natural texture, then immersed in rich, carefully curated dyes. We use traditional pot-dyeing techniques to achieve vibrant, lasting colors with subtle beautiful variations known as 'abrash'.

02

Stage Two

Mapping the Vision

Before a single knot is tied, our master designers translate intricate patterns onto a 'Talim'—a complex mapped grid that acts as the weaver's blueprint. Every color shift and motif is plotted with mathematical precision to ensure the final piece aligns perfectly with the artistic vision.

03

Stage Three

The Art of Knotting

This is the heart of our craft. Skilled artisans sit at vertical looms, tying thousands of individual knots by hand. Depending on the complexity, a single rug can take months to weave. Their hands move in rhythmic harmony, bringing the Talim map to life knot by knot.

04

Stage Four

Washing & Sun Drying

Once off the loom, the rug undergoes a rigorous organic washing process. This crucial step removes loose fibers, sets the dyes permanently, and gives the wool its signature lustrous sheen. Finally, the rug is laid out to dry naturally under the warm Indian sun.

05

Stage Five

Stretching & Shearing

The dried rug is tightly stretched on a frame to ensure perfect symmetry and flat edges. After stretching, master shearers carefully trim the pile to an even height, sharpening the design details and bringing a velvety smooth finish to the surface.
